What does an event look like? What is the duration?
A chocolate tasting lasts
between 1 hour and
1 hour and 30 minutes depending on the number of chocolates being tasted, amount of discussion and questions. For
in person events, there is a
1 hour set up time prior to the event and a
30 minute clean up post event.
Here is a
description of a typical in-person event - it has
3 parts:
Our chocolate connoisseur gives a presentation about chocolate including where does chocolate come from? how is it made? how does one taste chocolate? The connoisseur will show 2 brief videos about the actual process. (~15 min to 20 min)
Our expert will then facilitate a blind tasting where everyone participates in tasting the curated selections of milk and dark chocolate. Everyone takes notes, discuss what they see, smell and taste before, during and after each chocolate. (~40 to 45 min)
Everyone votes on their favorites! The our connoisseur reveals each chocolate tasted including the brand, where the chocolate beans used in each bar come from, percentage cacao content, price, etc. (~10 min to 15 min)
A virtual event is very similar however because the chocolate is shipped to participants ahead of time, it won't be a blind tasting.
How many people can attend?
The ideal number of people to attend a tasting is between 10 and 25 which allows for participants to relax, really taste each chocolate and share observations and flavor notes. Single sessions of over 100 participants have been accomodated as well as having multiple sessions back-to-back with up to 25 attendees in each.
